Suggest Treatment For Relapse Of Extreme Pain And Fatigue While Treating Fibromyalgia

Hi, I m a 47 year old women. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 5 years ago and have been managing it well with exercise and a healthy diet. I have had a relapse with extreme pain and fatigue. I have had extreme (what I would call) hot flashes and muscle weakness with the pain and fatigue. My question is....are these also symptoms of fibromyalgia?? t

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Muscle weakness with pain and fatigue are symptoms of fibromyalgia. However, these hot flashes are not usually related to fibromyalgia. Taking into account your age (47 years old), hormonal changes during peri-menopause can also cause hot flashes with fatigue. For me, should take magnesium, calcium and vitamin D or B supplement to ease the symptoms. Primrose oil can help reduce hot flashes.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
