Suggest Treatment For Reduced Ejection Fraction
It was just determined by echo that my EF has gone from 60% to 30%. I have mitral valve prolapse in addition. My cardiologist is on vacation and I ve only talked to the nurses. What will be the next step. This all started with afib x 2 mos although I ve been successfully treated for it since 1996. Now am out of control is this due to the MVP?

The treatment of low ejection fraction depends upon the cause of low EF. It may be due to persistent AF, severely leaking valve associated with MVP or some other unrelated reason. If you could share the complete ECHO report, I will be able to throw more light on this issue.
Urgency of starting treatment in such cases depends upon the symptoms patient is having. However certain non-specific treatment has to be started , so consult your GP on priority.
