Suggest Treatment For Redness And Swelling In The Toes Post Injury

Hello doctor I just wanted to ask you about a condition regarding my mother She fell down while walking a few weeks ago, and at that time, she fell on her pinky, causing it to go red, swell, and cause her pain. Currently, she doesn t feel pain, but it looks like there s a strange inflammation on the side of the pinky (no redness, pinky still looks straight). What is causing this swelling?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, Swelling is mostly due to accumulation of fluid in the surrounding tissue due to inflammation. It is a post injury response, it will subside within a few days and is nothing to be worried about. Go for an X-ray if pain is present or the swelling isn't subsiding to rule out hairline fracture.
Thank you for referring to this forum. Regards.
