Suggest Treatment For Redness And Pain In The Ear

Hi, My son is 5 years old... He woke up this morning with the back bone of his left ear red... I didn t think anything of it... But at around 11 I noticed his ear was actually like sticking out!.. His ear ( helix) and back bone was red and swollen like crazy....probably feverish as well because his ear is hot hot..!!.. Gave him Benadryl and rubbed his ear with cortate cream... There is no apparent bug bites.. Help!.. Any idea of what this would be

Thanks for your query.
Noted the history related to your son of sudden redness and increasing swelling behind the ear with redness and feverishness.
The most probable causes can be:
- Allergy due to insect bite.
- Severe chondritis.

I would suggest you the following:
Continue benedryl orally.
Do not apply anything locally , it does not help.
He needs an antibiotic and anti-inflammatory.
Hence you should take him to the doctor for clinical examination and prescription.
