Suggest Treatment For Redness And Itching On External Ear

Hi, I ve been experiencing red, itchy, slightly bumpy ears for the past two days. It s not on the inside on the ear canal, but it s on the outside, on the cartilage. They re a little bumpy, almost like a rash, but not really. Just kind of rough. Any suggestions?

Hi,

The rash on the outer ear rim would be most probably contact allergic dermatitis. There may be itchy papulovesicular lesions on the ears. You consult dermatologist for firm diagnosis and treatment, however I would like to give you few suggestions as follow..

- take antihistaminics like levocetirizine
- take steroid in tappering dose
- apply mild steroid cream
- take antibiotics if secondary infection
- avoid contact with suspected allergen like shampoo, soap, perfume, cosmetic or other..

I hope this would be helpful to you.

Thanks.
