Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I m a 25 year old male. I ve noticed a shiny red spot on the side of my penis. It occurred about a week ago. It doesn t itch or hurt. I ve had protected sex with every woman. Last time I had sex was in January. After doing research it might seem that I have molluscum contagiosum. Please help. Thank you!
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM The treatment of your symptom will depend on the cause.Possible causes may include local skin irritation, skin infection by a bacterium or fungus or an STI like syphilis or herpes. Mulluscum contagiosum is a viral infection of the skin that results in round, firm, painless bumps ranging in size from a pinhead to a pencil eraser. If the bumps are scratched or injured, the infection can spread to surrounding skin. This does not seem to be what is happening to you.I feel it may not be it. I will however suggest you see a Dermatologist for examination and management.Depending on his diagnostic orientation, tests may be asked that will help identify the cause of the rash with certainty.I will however advise good genital hygiene and bathing with an antiseptic toilet soap or solution lke cyteal. Hope my answer will help you Regards
