Suggest Treatment For Recurring Symptoms Of Diverticulitis

Have been diagnosed with diverticulitis and recently it seemed to have flared up again. Present symptoms are gas, cramps, belching, and a little light headed. I do have a doctors appointment tomorrow but was wanting to check my symptoms. This all started 3 days ago after eating dinner, cube steak, mashed (instant) potatoes and gravy.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
diverticulitis is an increasingly common problem due to our modern dietary habits. By taking a lot of fiber and liquids in your diet, you can improve your symptoms. Fibrous diet includes vegetables, fruits, brown bread and psyllium.
In your case the most important thing will be to visit your doctor so that he can treat the acute symptoms related to diverticulitis. The doctor might prescribe some antibiotics and changes in your dietary habits.
Please let us know if you have any other questions regarding your condition. Have a nice day.
