Suggest Treatment For Recurring Bumps On The Scalp

I have bumps on my scalp the have liquid in them. The doctor gave me clobetasol and hydrocortisone plus a shampoo 2 X week. The bumps are recurring. I am taking a vitamin for hair, nails and skin and biotin. Could these vitamins be causing the bumps? Also, I lost 30 lbs in 2 months and started hair loss. I stopped the program and have been struggling to recover hair. I was told my hormones could not adjust to the sudden weight loss; however, the doctor will not prescribe hormone supplement. I do take synthroid. Is all this related? V/r, Susan

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Recurring itchy bumps over the scalp can occur due to causes like hair follicle infection of Folliculitis, bacterial infection causing Impetigo, allergic reaction causing Contact Dermatitis etc..
I would suggest you to consult a Trichologist or Dermatologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like microscopic examination of the scrapings from the scalp and blood tests can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
You can be advised antibiotics, anti inflammatory medicines, anti allergic medicines and topical application of antibiotic and steroid ointment..
Avoid scratching the bumps to avoid infection..
Wash the scalp every alternate day with a mild shampoo..
Avoid moisture accumulation in the scalp..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
