Suggest Treatment For Recurrent Sore Throat

Hi, I m taking Clarithromycin because of one infection in my ear, and today appeared angina in my throat? How is that possible and what i have to do now? p.s; I m 26 years old, female. I was diagnosed with rheumatic fever before 6 years, and I took Extencilline for 6 months. I have angina at least 2 times per year?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to an infection of the tonsils. Clarithromycin is not effective in treating the infection. So, I suggest to do a throat culture test to check for the bacteria and the antibiotic that is effective in your case. Meanwhile, I suggest using a throat spray for antibacterial properties. I also suggest using anti-inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
