Suggest Treatment For Recurrent Cough And Sneezing Problem In Children

Hi, my daughter who had recently turned 4 years old. When she was 3 yrs she got cough and cold, suddenly she developed shortness of breathe (during dec 2015) at midnight. we rushed to doctor and he provided hydrocortisone IV. The same repeated during feb and june 2016, where we consulted other doctor, he informed acute bronchitis and suggested to take blood test and x-ray. The report was normal but he too give steriod IV along with asthalin. he also provided the nebulizer and requested to take butesomide twice daily for six months and sulbair during emergency. Recently in August she got same issue and taken to another doctor (advised by friend), he informed that its just stage 1, dont require nebulizer to child for long time. he just given Budesal nubuliser twice daily for three days along with antibiotic, montelukast and salbid plus. she was fine in short period. last week she got cough and sneezing, where i have taken her and given budesal for two days and antibiotic which was prescribd earlier with consulting doctor. I am bit worried for it and please suggest it is problematic. Is it advisable to give budesal or it best to give asthalin. kindly advice to rid out of this, it troubles by daughter very much. Thanks in advance

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a simple upper respiratory tract infection. Consult a paediatrician and start a short course of antibiotics. As of now saline nasal drops can be tried for symptomatic relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
