I am a 48 yr old female in fair health. For approximately 6 months or so I have experiencdd rectal bleeding & passing blood clots. The clots are usually small(dime size) but I have had a few the size of a small & shape of an uncooked chicken liver. The blood is usually bright and happens with & without bowl movemen. I fill the toilet bowl full . ??? Help?
Rectal bleeding with clots requires detailed evaluation for possible causes and treating them accordingly. Most common causes that needs to be ruled out - piles, fissure (tear around the anus), cancer, blood vessel malformation (angiodysplasia). in order to rule out these it is important that you show to a surgeon and get yourself examined, a per rectal exam in which the doctor examines your rectum for any growth or abnormalities, colonoscopy if required which is an examination of lower intestine with an endoscope. Based upon findings from these further treatment options can be discussed. Also, meanwhile, I would also like to check your hemoglobin status and provide correction if needed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
