Suggest Treatment For Rashes On Legs

my husband just got back from Vegas. He showed me his leg rash. It was more than a rash. His legs were swollen twice the size as normal to the point that his inner thigh was sagging over his knees. He has a rash on both legs and what looked like blood pooling aroung the ancles. He said when it started it was hot to the touch and his calves were very hard. His feet were completely rash free. He never has edema before (I have). This started 7 days after he arrived and it was 4 days ago. He since has flown home. He is 58 yrs old and in good health taking no meds. Had a recent ear issue with no meds.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your husband have symptoms of rashes on legs which is very common as dirt and moisture get trapped by your clothing and the friction that comes from sitting can these symptoms. It could be due to blockage of sebaceous glands leading to folliculitis or boils. Need not to worry. You should void touching or pricking rashes. I would suggest you to keep this area clean and dry , apply cream containing azelaic acid , apply warm compresses with soaked towel and apply vitamin C serum at night. If condition doesn't get better then consult dermatologist for proper examination . Doctor will examine physically along with blood test and sample for lab test . Doctor may prescribe immunosuppressants , antibiotics like clindamycin , anti inflammatory or anti fungal . Doctor may also prescribe benzoyl peroxide ointment .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
