Suggest Treatment For Pus On Scar Post Neck Surgery

Hello. I recently had surgery on my neck (about two months ago). There appears to be a pustule formed on part of the scar. I guess it could be a stitch that wasn t removed properly? My question is, can I lance the pustule? It s quite large---larger than a regular pimple or some such thing. Adam

Hello,
Its better to dress the wound with betadine after draining. If you dont have fever or local rise of temperature local dressing with betadine is sufficient. Donot puncture the pustule yourself ,it might lead to further infection. Culture sensitivity of the pus and appropriate antibiotic is suggested.
