Suggest Treatment For Pus Discharge From Abscess Near The Tail Bone

Hi I was wondering if you can help me, for the past few years right at the top of my bum just where my tailbone is but still at the top between the cheeks I have a small hole/tear which pusses a lot and causes a lot of discomfort when I try sit, exercise or involving anything with my tailbone. The pus is quite foul smelling when it leaks. Sometimes it heals by it s self but always comes back. Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. Your problem can be most likely pilonidal cyst. Most of it won't respond to antibiotics alone. So it should e drained properly. You can consult a General surgeon for this. Incision and drainage of cyst or marsupialization are the procedures done for this. Both can be done under local anesthesia and as out patient surgery.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
