Suggest Treatment For Pulmonary Heart Disease

I take Xarelto, 20 MG, once daily which started in June 2014. My concern is that at the current price I will be in the prescription Stage 3, Coverage Gap this year ! What are my options, do you know of a Generic that may be approved in the near future? I was hospitalized for five weeks in June/ July 2014 and developed blood clots in the lower section of each leg and my right lung. My Hematology doctor wants me to continue Xarelto for at least one year. I also have Acute pulmonary heart disease.
Thank You, Vincent M. Roppatte

I read your question and I understand your concern.

Unfortunately there is no generic alternative for Xarelto and I doubt there will be for some time. Even the similarly acting alternatives like Apixaban, Dabigatran and recently added Edoxaban I fear are not that cheap.
So if really a less costly alternative is needed it's Warfarin which is efficacious but it's dosing is difficult have to watch for many interactions with foods and other drugs and have regular blood tests to determine the dosage.

I hope to have been of help.
