Suggest Treatment For Prolonged TMJ And Tinnitus

I have an appointment with an ear, eye, nose, & throat doctor at Kaiser due to the fact that I have been suffering with TMJ & Tinnitus for many years. I'm hoping that hoping & praying that the doctor can help relieve my suffering. I've already watched videos on the internet that show doctors have been helping patients suffering from TMJ & Tinnitus; & since we are covered by Kaiser insurance, I'm hoping that the Kaiser doctor will be able to help me. If any doctor can give me advice regarding what I should expect, I would very much appreciate it. Carole Silverman

Hi,

As per your complain TMJ can be a cause of tinnitus as every time you move the jaw there can be a clicking or grinding sound from the TMJ leading to Tinnitus. At times when the soft cushion that is present between the two bony ends of the jaw joint gets displaced there is a rubbing/clicking or grinding sound that causes ringing sensation in ears.

You need to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Panoromic x ray can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly. You can be advised a course of pain relievers and muscle relaxants along with mouth guards or oral splints.

Physiotherapy can also be advised for relief. In case if nothing works surgical treatment is advised.

Hope this information helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks and regards,
