Suggest Treatment For Primary Peritoneal Cancer

What is the best treatment protocol for primary peritoneal cancer? Pt is 30 years old just had a cesarean delivery to a baby girl and the cancer was discovered. No signs prior to pregnancy. Very healthy and active mother. What causes primary peritoneal CA? Is it genetic? What is the survival rate? Will the baby contract it?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi and welcome.
Ok, first, baby will not contract it since this is not contagious disease. This is very rare cancer and there is no exact cause known but it is related to genetics. This is cancer of peritoneal membrane which covers abdominal cavity. It is pretty agressive tumors and treatemnt is possible only in early staged when chemotherapy is recommended after which so called HIPEC procedure should be performed. With HIPEC,survival reasches 7 years, and in late stages this is around 12-24months ufnortunately.
Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help
