Suggest Treatment For Pressure In The Ears And Tinnitus
I have seen two ENT doctors for ear pressure, ringing in the ears, some ear tenderness to loud noises. They have given antibiotics and nose sprays. Nothing has helped. They have recommend hearing aids, which I plan to pursue. Do you have experience with this and any recommendations? The ocean sounds affect both ears and can be disheartening! I try to ignore it but it is exhausting!
Tinnitus can be a very frustrating problem. Most commonly it is due to loud noise exposure during your lifetime and is associated with hearing loss, which it sounds like you have. There is good evidence that hearing aids actually improve tinnitus in addition to helping your hearing, so I would strongly recommend this.
Other things that have been shown to help include: -Cognitive behavioral therapy. Access to this is difficult depending on where you live, and it is usually expensive. -Distraction techniques such as sound machines and ambient noise/music. -Some people have tried lipo-flavinoids for tinnitus. These are vitamins that are considered to be pretty safe. Personally I do not believe that they work particularly well, but there is little harm to trying them.
Best of luck to you.
