Suggest Treatment For Post-traumatic Stress Disorder

I m seeking help for my wife, Loan. She is a victim of the violence and terror of the Vietnam war. Though she immigrated to the US in 2001, as her husband, I am convinced she suffers from PTSD now and would greatly benefit from 250 hours of speaking with a therapist about her life and experience. Can you possibly suggest what I might be able to do for Loan, and what she, in fact, should do for herself? Thankm you. John Mesarch Jr

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
I really appreciate your positive attitude towards your wife.
PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) needs prolonged counseling by psychiatrist.
So she should definitely consult psychiatrist and get done counselling sessions. We should slowly taper hours of counselling so that sudden rebound symptoms will not occur.
She may need mild anxiolytic drug too.
Don't worry, she will be alright.
Continuous positive family support is very important in recovery.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your wife. Thanks.
