Suggest Treatment For Post-immunization Fever In A Child

My baby had his one year immunizations shots last Wednesday and since yesterday he developed a fever (39c) which has gone today but his voice has become hoarse and he is crying when he s waking up at night. He s usually a very content child. Could this be the injections and is it serious?

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
Posting immunization fever is common in children and will subside with anti-pyretics like paracetasmol. Fever a week or several days after immunization may however be caused by something else not related to immunization.Hoarse voice may suggest the fever is as a result of an upper respiratory tract infection. Most of these infections are of viral origin and symptomatic treatment will do.I will suggest you try the following:
-An anti-pyretic like paracetamol
-A steroidal anti-inflammatory like celestene drops
-Avoid cold/dust
If the symptoms persist, you see the Pediatrician for evaluation and an infectious work-up.
Hope my answer will help you
Best regards
