Suggest Treatment For Post Acne Hyperpigmentation

Hi, about a year ago I had a huge pimple and I popped it and kept picking at it. It turned into a wound. After it healed it was a pink color. It s been about a year since that happen and there a mark of where the pimple was and it appears to be a couple skin tones lighter then my face color. I want to restore my pigment back into that area on my face but don t know how to. Please help

I can understand your concern for pigmentation after popping the huge pimple.

After analyzing the query I can get that the condition is known as "Post inflammatory hyper-pigmentation" or PIH after popping the huge pimple.

To tell you simply, the "Post inflammatory hyper-pigmentation" is due to the activity of melanocytes in the skin. These melanocytes are the cells which regularly produces color/pigment known as melanin in the skin. These are superficially present in the upper skin known as epidermis. This is a tendency in us to get higher activity of these melanocytes after popping the huge pimple.

If I were your treating dermatologist thenn for your "Post inflammatory hyper-pigmentation" I would have prescribed a cream with Kojic acid with arbutin and mulberry extract in it or Azelaic acid cream. Apply at night time before sleeping and avoid sunlight.
