Suggest Treatment For Persistent Vaginal Itching

Good afternoon, I am on birth control and I skip the sugar pills every month. The last few days I have had vaginal itching but no discharge, no smell. The last two days I have had bleeding with a back ache. Would that just be considered break through?

Hi,
Thanks for the query.
*You are on oral contraceptives & you are skipping sugar pills ..this sounds that you are starting with active hormonal pills in new pack directly....in that case the bleeing you had can be a break through bleeding.
My suggestion is to meet your doctor &confirm the schedule of pill consumption ...not to allow withdrawal bleeding monthly is likely to pile up hormonal levels &cause an imbalance...
* The itching without vaginal discharge you have could be due to hormonal imbalance .. disturbing normal vaginal flora to favour fungal infection &vaginitis.. leading to itching.
(dry vagina causing itching /uncontrolled diabetes /allergy to edibles or toiletories .)could be other causes of such itching.
-Treatment would depend on cause. Few investigations would help .. blood sugar (fasting&post meal), vaginal swab test.&hormonal assay may be needed to find the cause..followed by specific treatment.
- Home care-genital hygiene/local ointments like candid cream or steriod skin cream over the counter will give some relief till you see the doctor.
Please consult a gynecologist.
Thanks.
