Urologist 's  Response
Hello
Thanks for query .You are known to have enlarged prostate and have UTI since 3 weeks and is taking antibiotics and Tomsulosin once daily .

The UTI in a person with enlarged prostate is due to significant residual urine that remains in bladder after voiding due to bladder outlet obstruction caused by enlarged prostate .This post void residual is the source of infection

Taking antibiotic helps to control the infection but does not eliminate the basic cause which is enlarged prostate .

Please consult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis
3) Serum PSA.

If you are getting episodes of recurrent UTI I would suggest you to get endoscopic surgery of TURP done .This is a gold standard procedure practiced all over the world and will help to resolve your problem for forever.
