Suggest Treatment For Persistent Pain On The Shoulders And Arms

About 12 days ago I woke up with a bad crick in my neck. Which isn t unusual because our bed sucks. After a few days the pain seemed to be getting worse. It s now spreading throughout my left shoulder and down my arm, the spasms come and go whether I m sitting still, sleeping or working. The pain is extreme, I cannot express enough how EXTREMELY painful this is. It s not a constant pain, in fact, sometimes it feels fine, nothing more than a little soreness. I finally broke down last Saturday morning, early and went to the ER. The doc said it was a cervical sprain and he prescribed muscles relaxers and tramadol. The muscle relaxers help a little but the tramadol are absolutely useless. Can someone please tell me what this is, I m not sure how long I can take this pain! .

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The cervical pain can be due to muscle spasms which should've been relieved with tramadol and relaxants. There might be some cervical spine anomaly, loss of lordosis, compression etc which might be the reason. Get x-ray Cervical Spine- AP and LATERAL film done. Follow up with ortho or surgical splt. Get well soon.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Arihant Pandey
