Suggest Treatment For Persistent Pain In Rib

Very small, painful to tough on rib/lat area, also have occasional minor pain just under my ribs on the left side. It was more persistent, but I havent eaten much in the last 2 days (by choice, no loss of appetite) and it hasnt bothered me too much during that time.

Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to costochondritis if the pain is superficial and pain while palpation on rib area is positive. If there is gastric irritation or heart burn then it can be gastritis and in such case proton pump inhibitor therapy helps. Ecg should be taken to rule out any cardiac cause to be on safe side. In case of costochondritis i treat with anti inflammatory gels like nimusulide for local application. Oral tablet of same can be taken if pain is more. If no improvement then local injection of corticosteroids or anesthetic will be helpful. Hope this may help you.
Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
