Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been running a low grade fever for 9 days now, when I wake up in the morning I don't have a fever but after and hour of being awake it starts running around 99-100. I went to a walk in clinic and they said it was just a virus but going on 10 days now is this normal?
Hello After noon rise of temperature or evening rise temperature is a characteristic feature of tuberculosis , particularly in long standing fever as 9 days passed. Diagnosis can be confirmed by X ray chest , blood for E S R and sputum examination ( as if cough and sputum present ). Typhoid fever may be the another such reason of fever . Diagnosis can be confirmed by Widal test as well as serology. Dengue may be the another reason of such fever ( low grade ) due to prolong period .Diagnosis can be confirmed platelets examination. However , there are so many other reasons of such fever as viral ( remote chance because of prolong duration ) , bronchitis ( if cough present ) . But in my opinion consult a physician and get his opinion as physical examination as well as clinical examination is important in such type of cases. Hope this will help you.
HI Well come to HCM If this was the viral fever then this must have been over now, and this is nothing to worry, what the temperature you have noted may be insignificant, now just relax and have a nice day.
