Suggest Treatment For Persistent Dry Cough

I have been having a continuous cough off and own for about 12 years. It is a cough that sort of tickles your throat. I have been to doctors and specialists; they run all types of tests and all come to the conclusion that it is an allergy. Some have suggested medication, which doesn t help. This is a dry cough.

Hi, thank you for asking healthcare Magic.
One other condition that can cause this is Gastro-esophageal reflux disease. To effectively control it, you need drugs and some life style modifications.
Concerning drugs, you may need to take a drug that would reduce the amount of acid secreted like omeprazole, pantoprazole or ranitidine for about 1 to 2 months.
Concerning life style modification, you need to avoid eating late in the night, sit up for about 1 to 2 hours after meals before going to bed, avoid food that would increase acid secretions like spicy foods, fatty foods, caffeine-containing foods, alcohol and pepper..
You can also take s drug that could render the cough productive like carbocysteine.
I think you could get better if you try these measures.

I hope that helps
I wish you well
