Suggest Treatment For Persistent Coughs

Been coughing for a month. Dr. gives me cough pills and I am still coughing. I am so concerend that the pills do not stop my coughing so he has set me up with a lung doctor with out even checking me. I do not sleep will at night some nights because of coughing. It is a deep cough and I am also using Halls cough drops a lot. Do not know what to do. My lung appt. Is not until Dec. 7, 2016. He doesn t seem to want or have time for me. What should I do????

lozenges to soothe throat
warm water saline gargles thrice a day
