Suggest Treatment For Persistent Clogging In Ears Post A Sinus Infection

My ears have been clogged for about 2 years after I had a sinus infection while 2 months pregnant. Have been to ENT and allergist. No fluid in ears. Prednisone doesn t work and have taken many allergy mess that don t do much either. What can be done? Are there any drops or anything I can try?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I would recommend you to have a tympanogram and audiogram and rule out what we call glue ear. This is a complication of fluid-filled ears for a long time and may cause the feeling like ears are clogged.

Unfortunately, drugs (drops or tablets) are not effective in most patients with clogged ears and if it does not improve with time, glue ear should be considered and possibly a surgical intervention may be needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
