Suggest Treatment For Pernicious Anemia, Osteoarthritis, Vitamin-D Deficiency And IBS

I am 30 and female. I have felt unwell for a long time. I have pernicious anemia, osteo arthritus, VIT D deficiency and IBS. I was referred to rheumatology but discharged as my high ESR was put down to constant tonsillitis. I had them removed but still having the same problems and in 3 weeks my ESR has gone from 31 to 47. I have been referred back to rheumatology but feel quite confused and worried while I wait. I constantly feel tired and also have sleep problems, feel sick, stomach cramps, joint pain, feel weak and struggle to heal after simple procedures

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

The basic problem lies in IBS wherein your intestines are not working properly, unable to absorb important nutrients, vitamins, minerals and trace elements giving secondary problems of osteoarthritis, vitamin-D and others deficiency, pernicious anemia. ESR is only prognostic and has not much value in determining the cause of diseases hence better ignore.

I would advise you to consult a gastroenterologist for clinical examination, relevant investigations like colonoscopy, tests of blood, urine and stool. To get started proper management of IBS and getting correctly treated will improve on your nutritional absorption and thus utilization by body to improve your health. Also, get supplements under the guidance of a doctor and nutritionist. Thus, all will revert to normal health.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
