Suggest Treatment For Paraesthesia, Allodynia And SPD In An Autistic Adult

Hi there. I am a 27 year old autistic adult who has been experiencing nervous system abnormalities, the strangest lf which is horrible paresthesias and a sense of buzzing, allodynia or brokwn glass in my skin. I was born with it and have had a slew of tests with no answer. Couls this be related to autism? I also have sensory processing disorder.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The allodynia is a perception of pain from stimuli which usually does not provoke pain. The cause of allodynia is vivid and usually involves disturbances with the neurological phenomenon like
- Diabetes
- Fibromyalgia
- Migraine headache
- Post herpetic neuralgia

However, the allodynia is not a diagnostic criteria of autism, neither it is a commonly found symptom in routine.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
