Suggest Treatment For Painful Red Streaks On Vulva
Hello. I have red streaks(almost looks like cracked skin because it divots down at the red marks) on my vulva. It hurts almost all the time, is sensitive to the touch(the marks), itches ocasionally, and burns when I urinate. I have found that exposing the area to the air for extended periods of time helps it not hurt as much and the dryer areas then do not burn when I urinate. The relief only lasts as long as the area is dryer. I do have some clear, odorless discharge from my vagina. The discharge is water-like in every way. I really don t know what to do to help. I don t know if it s serious enough to go to a doctor either. Thank you.
The symptoms seem to be related to an urinary tract infection. I suggest to do a urine culture. Based on this examination, you will take the antibiotic medicine. I suggest you to drink plenty of water and cranberry juice. Maintain good hygiene at the the using toilet. I also suggest anti fungal ointment apply locally.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Arup Majumdar, General & Family Physician
