Suggest Treatment For Painful Menstrual Bleeding While Having PCOS

I suffer from PCOS and was given a medicine to stop the bleeding that lasted over 29days, 11 of those days heavy clot bleeding. I was told to take Lo Loestrin Fe(LLF) as soon as I started to see the bleeding stop, however now three days into the LLF, I have started very heavy bleeding with back and menstrual pain. Is this normal? OR should I go visit an Emergency Room with a Gynecologist on Call.

Hi,

As mentioned you are diagnosed with pcos and underwent medication. If you have heavy bleeding and pain, Ultrasound pelvis is suggested to see how much pcos responded to drug. And for heavy bleeding uterus assessment is required. Contraceptive pills may also cause heavy bleeding other cause for bleeding might be fibroid. After ultrasound you need gynecologist opinion for further line of treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Shalu Mishra
