Hi, I m 18 and I ve recently got my ears pierced for the first time. I ve taken my studs out now and a couple of days wearing normal earrings a lump/bump has appeared inside both my earlobes. It isn t red, hot or swollen like I ve read up about It only hurts when I try to put an earring in, I don t want it to close up but do you you know what I should do to help it heal and keep the piercing open? I just want these lumps gone! Hope you can help
Hi! Good afternoon. i am Dr Shareef answering your query.
Many ear lobes react to any kind of foreign body, specially to artificial jwelleries, causing inflammation resulting in such bumps in the long run due to chronicity. If I were your doctor, I would advise you to take out the studs for some time till the foreign body reaction gets subsided and the bumps vanish. Then you could rather redo the holes under sterile conditions by a ENT surgeon and not in the open market where sterility is not maintained, and go for a gold ring rather than an artificial jewellery, which are known to react to the skin more than that made up of gold.
I hope this answers your query. In case of any doubt please do not hesitate to ask again. Thanks for using healthcaremagic portal for your health related queries. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
