Suggest Treatment For Painful Hard Knot On The Side Of The Head
I noticed a painful hard knot on the side of my head diagonal from my left ear. It's mostly painful to touch. Are there sinus cavieties there? Or should I be concerned about other possibilities? I do suffer from sinus issues (infections, drainage, fluid behind my ear drums etc) thank you.
Painful hard knot on the side of my head diagonal from your left ear along with sinus related problems seems to be most probably due swollen lymph nodes leading to lymphadenopathy and in case if you have a history of sinus infections, the swelling of lymph nodes can be due to reactionary lymphadenitis. I would therefore suggest you to consult an ENT expert and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation done. You will be advised a course of antibiotics like Augmentin and anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen along with cool compresses over the lymph node.
In case if it does not show signs of resolution in a week a biopsy and ultrasound has to be done for further confirmation of the cause so that appropriate treatment can be instilled.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Honey Arora
