Suggest Treatment For Painful Bruises On The Knee And Legs

I received an injury to the inside of the knee of my right leg 5 days ago - kicked by a cow - it barely broke the skin , but created a bruise larger than my hand. I iced the injury as soon as practical and pain has not been severe since the day it happened, then this evening I have had several sharp, stabbing pains in the injured area. should I be concerned?
