Suggest Treatment For Painful Broken Bone After Spinal Fusion

I had spinal fusion done a month ago. Then a bone broke and I had to have further surgery two weeks ago with three levels fused with bone grafts from each hip. The pain is still terrible and doesn t seem to be getting less. There is a bulge on the left side of my spine off center. I m afraid to have surgery from the front approach and wonder if this is my only alternative. Or is this just something that can get better with more time.

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

The situation is supposed to improve in a couple of months. In the meantime, I recommend taking naproxen for the pain, coupled with Gabapentin or Pregabalin. If the pain persists after such period of time, I would recommend consulting with a surgeon and discussing about another surgery with anterior approach.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
