Suggest Treatment For Pain Under The Jaw

I have had dentures since I was 17, I am now 72. In 2003 I started having pain under my jaw on just the right side. I have literally spent thousands of dollars on dentist trying to get relief. They all have a different opinion but they have not helped the problem, I feel like I am losing my mind. I have lost most of my jaw bone, they have put in 5 dental implants to hold in my denture but I can t stand to wear them but for a few hrs and then I have so much pain I have to take them out. Please tell me you have an answer for me, help please.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns.

As per your complain pain under the jaw can be due to probably due to 2 main conditions as there are 2 major structures present in that area that is submandibular salivary gland and submandibular group of lymph nodes..
Pain can occur either due to infection in the salivary gland leading to pain and discomfort while can also be due to inflamed lymph nodes..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Surgeon or an ENT expert and get evaluated and he can do a clinical evaluation and also advise you investigations like x ray, MRI scan etc to confirm the diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
As of now you can do cool compresses under the jaw..
Take ant-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..
Massage the area gently with finger [Avoid if pain increases]..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
