Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I fell a few feet down with my left hand outstretched trying to break my fall. I went to the ER and I had an X-ray done however the results were negative for any broken bones. 5 weeks later I still have very bad pain on the top of my wrist as well as along my thumb radiating to my elbow. The pain is exrutiating when I put any pressure on my wrist or flex it back. Can a sprain last this long? And what else could I be facing? Thank You
Pain in your wrist even after 5 weeks is mostly due to strain or pressure as a result of routine work. For this you need not to worry much. You can take tab zerodol-sp or biozobid-plus every 8-12 hourly. You can apply bandage over your wrist area extending towards elbow. Apart from this you can also do hot water fomentation. Avoid too heavy work and give some rest to your wrist.
