Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 13 year old son is having pain on the front of his ankle - we googled it - the inferior extensor retinaculum. It hurts when he walks and runs. He just started football a week and a half ago. We thought it was the new spikes, but we tried adjusting them and loosing them with no results. Any suggestions?
Welcome at HCM I have gone through your and being your physician i completely understand your health concerns.
Based upon ur history it is difficult to pinpoint the diagnosis ..is he hurt during football? is there any rotation of the ankle? statistically speaking the most common injury which occur during ankle sprain lateral talofibular ligamnet... is there any swelling in the ankle? In my opinion you should meet ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON so that he can be appropriately investigated..You need to get an X ray of the affected ankle joint... meanwhile stay calm and don't try to move the ankle too much, you should acetaminophen to relieve pain along with tab DANZEN DS two times daily . Use ANKLE brace too and regular icing . It will take at least two weeks to completely heal.
get well soon Hope your query is adequately addressed if you still have any feel free to ask Regards Dr Saad Sultan
