Suggest Treatment For Pain At The Injection Site

I was donating power red today when at the time for the return of my plasma, I experienced a sharp pain at the needle site. The technician told me to stop squeezing the ball and took the blood pressure cuff off. He also stopped the donation stating he didn t want to torture me. What could have happened? Is it possible that my shoulder injury (a possible labrum tear) could have had anything to do with my difficulties today.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your case history you are having purpuric rash at injection site. My treatment advice is -

1. Apply ice on the affected part twice daily.
2. Apply a soothing lotion like calamine lotion on affected region twice daily.
3. Take a NSAID like ibuprofen for 5-7 days. If problem persists then consult a dermatologist.
