Suggest Treatment For Pain And Weakness In The Legs

i have leg aching and loss of strength in my legs. When I walk a short distance, less than a mile, my legs hurt and my calves start to tighten up and hurt. i have had nerve and muscle tests, but they are ok. I also had a neck fusion years ago on 1 and 2. I am not sure where to go from here, but I am losing the use of my legs.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, it muscles and nerves are normal, Doppler ultrasound of legs to see for any signs of peripheral arterial disease should be ruled as it can present as intermittent claudication or such spells. Vitamin D3 and B12 levels may also be monitored. Replacement may be started if deficiencies are detected. Sugar levels as well as Thyroid profile may be needed. Meanwhile, OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen along with muscle relaxants like tizanidine or orphenidine can be helpful. If severe gabapentin may also be used.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Regards,
