Suggest Treatment For Pain And Swelling In The Thumb
Hi. I must ve jammed my right thumb at some point - but within the last week it has gotten increasingly swollen and I can t press down on it without pain. I feel like it needs to be lanced, yet I have no idea what that is. I just moved to Austin, TX and started a new job this past week and won t have health care for another few months. Any thoughts?
I too think you might've hit your thumb to some object. Apply alternating cold and warm compresses. Raise you hand when sit or laid down. Look for possible ingrown nail or for any pus. If no improvement and still swelling, go to ER as you do not have insurance yet.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini,
General & Family Physician
