Hello and welcome to HCM, Severe joint pain in fingers and hands is suspicious of arthropathy or joint disorder. Joints of hands and feet are involved in condition called rheumatoid arthritis and it is more common in females. A clinical assessment is necessary for definitive diagnosis. In case the condition turns out to be rheumatoid arthritis, appropriate treatment called disease modifying drugs are used. In the meanwhile, you can take pain killers and give hot fomentation to hands by dipping in warm water especially in the mornings when pain is more severe. Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
