Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am having pain and stiffness in my right leg. It started last evening when I was settling down in the evening. We had our Christmas so had a house full of company all weekend, with no problems until last night. It bothered me all night and this morning I had a hard time standing on it and cannot get down on my R knee. I can only bend my leg about 1/3 of the way. The pain is in my whole leg, but more around my knee area. Any suggestions for now. I am sitting with a heating pad on it right now and elevated.
As per your history there is possibility of soft tissue injury in knee. Most commonly meniscus injury occurs may be associated collateral ligament injury. If pain persists then you may need to do MRI knee to see for any functional defect.
As per your symptoms you need to do physiotherapy and knee exercises to improve range of motion. Rest and ice fomentation along with supportive brace will help to reduce swelling and pain.
Small meniscus tear can be managed conservatively with physiotherapy with USG and TENS. Meniscus injury can be managed by arthroscopic repair.
Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.
