Suggest Treatment For Pain And Pressure In The Lower Part Of The Esophagus
I swallowed a very hot piece of pizza 3 days ago. I felt it going down my esophagus. I drank a cup of water immediately afterwards. Since then I avoid eating hot and chilly dishes, but when I swallow food I feel mild pain/pressure in the lower part of the esophagus. I've read it'll heal by time. Is that true?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns. As per your complain it seems that pain and pressure in the lower part of oesophagus after eating hot pizza seems to be due to burning of the mucosa of the food pipe. And ulceration is caused due to hot food causing thermal burns. Yes, it takes time for the ulcers to heal and inflammation to subside.
I would suggest you to drink plenty of cool water and along with it you can also take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen and also take Sucralfate as it helps in preventing acid injury. Take soft diet and avoid spicy foods.
Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Honey Arora
