Suggest Treatment For Osteomyelitis In The Jaw

Hello, I surgery in February for osteomyelitis in my jaw. I had several surgeries and was on iv antibiotics for the month I was in the hospital and followed up with oral antibiotics for 2 weeks at home. Subsequently I developed severe edema in my feet and ankles. while the swelling of my fet and ankles has improved somewhat I have horrible itching on my feet and ankles. The skin is leathery and there is rash like bumps which are hard and dry. My skin has also peeled on other places on my body and continues to peel. I have followed-up with my infectious disease doctor who was only happy I survived and said to use lotion on my rash. This has not helped at all. I have used cortisone cream, both 5 and 10%, antibiotic cremes as well as many moisturizing lotions. Nothing has helped. I have been taking benadryl orally which has on worked temporarily and for a short time. The antibiotics I was on were fluconazole, metronidazole and cefuroxime iv and orally at home. Now I have new areas where my skin is peeling. I would appreciate any help or suggestions. Thank you, Stephanie

Hi,

Consult a dermatologist and get evaluated.

As of now, clean the feet with soap and water and apply topical antibiotics like Mupirocin for symptomatic relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
