Suggest Treatment For Numbness In The Hands After Waking Up

Hi dr. I am a 31 year old female and a mother of two. I have recently been complaining froma number of things, the first one is numbness in my hands when i wake up ... its feels as if there is alot blood accumulating in the hands. This started approximately 3 months ago but i used to suffer from this during pregnancy as well which stopped after giving birth. The second thing that i aam complaining from is not controlling the urge to urinate which ends up that i leak urine into my pants and underware and this started started this week only .. it happened atound three times so far and its really scaring me. Currently i am taking iron supplement (150 mg) since i have a very low ferritin of 3 ug/l and i am taking antibiotic (metronidazole 500 mg) since i have a bacterial infection in the vagina. I started both medications on Friday 28th of october.. another thing that could help is a recent blood work and urine that showed urine blood of 0.3 mg/l and a urine leukocyteesterase of 500 WBC/UL and Cr of 58 umol/L and eGfr of 118 ... I would really appreciate your response .. if you need any more info regarding the blood results plase let me know

Hello,

Usually, this is self-limiting and there is no specific cause but if this persists then various causes for arm numbness may persist like dehydration, diabetes, hypothyroidism, menopause, lack of B complex vitamins.

You may also have nerve compression problems which were suspected in your prior consultations which must have aggravated.

However at what level it varies and needs clinical evaluation, with nerve conduction studies with or without MRI.

It is very common to get such types of numbness and pain in stress and in a deep anxiety state.

However, to be on the safe side, you should consult a doctor and get your cardiac status checked along with other relevant investigations for the causes as mentioned above.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
