Suggest Treatment For Nerve Pain Despite Taking Tramadol

I Am recovering from internal shingles. Rash is gone but still having severe nerve pain. I am taking abstention 300 mg every 12 hrs, and tramadol 50mg every 12 hrs. I take the abstention at 6 + 6 and the tramadol at 12 + 12. Sometimes the pain is really bad and the tramadol doesn t work well enough. Is it okay to add a 1000mg dose of acetaminophen when I need stronger pain relief?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Yes, it is ok to add acetaminophen to your current treatment, it doesn't add any interaction. Another thing you may try would be local anesthetics like Capsaicin cream.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
