Hello,

The symptoms you have mentioned that your wife is currently having are likely related to mental illness likely causing due to stress.

Its good that you are trying to seek medical help which is the right thing to do.

Obsession with cleaning, negative thoughts get triggered by any kind of stress and this becomes a pattern which is very difficult to resist if left without proper help.

I would suggest you see a psychiatrist in your town because of he the best person to diagnose your wife depending on the symptoms.

With proper counselling and if necessary with the help of some medicines there will be an improvement.

But family support plays a vital role in such cases. Your doctor will advise you best treatment option and duration of the treatment.

These things take time when it comes to leading a normal life like before, you have to be very patient and supportive.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
